Top Canadian Honours For Getzlaf

Saskatchewan Roughrider receiver Chris Getzlaf has been named the CFL Gibson’s Finest Canadian Player of the Week.

Getzlaf received the award following his performance in Saturday’s 31-29 loss to the Toronto Argonauts. The seven-year Rider continued his hot streak catching five passes for a season high 133 yards and two touchdowns.

Through eleven games this season, the 30 year-old Regina product has 41 receptions and leads the Riders with 708 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. Saturday was also his seventh career 100-yard game.

This is the fourth time in his career that Getzlaf has been named Canadian player of the week.

It is the ninth time this season that a Rider has earned player of the week honours after Kory Sheets (twice), Renauld Williams (twice), Tyron Brackenridge, Darian Durant, Rob Bagg, and Jock Sanders have all picked up weekly awards.
