Owens Wins M-O-P

Toronto Argonauts receiver and kick returner Chad Owens was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player at the 2012 Gibson’s Finest Player Awards on Thursday night.

Owens earns his first MOP Award after becoming the first player in league history to lead the CFL in both receiving yards, as well as combined return yards.
“It’s been an awesome week," said the third-year Argonaut. "Definitely a high-point in my career, a high point for my family - we’ve been through a lot throughout my professional career, the sacrifices they’ve had to make, this definitely makes it come full circle, it’s definitely an honour.”

Owens also broke Michael 'Pinball' Clemons' record for most combined yards in a single season and became the first player in professional football to register at least 3,000 combined yards in three-straight seasons.

“Four years ago I really had no idea what the CFL was," he said. "I didn’t know anything about it, and each year I get to learn more and more and my heart grows and fills so much more each and every year with love for it."
"This year it just came full circle, everything that happened to me prior throughout my career, it all happened for this moment."

The 30-year-old native of Honolulu racked up 1,328 yards and six touchdowns on 94 receptions and added 2,510 combined return yards, helping the Argos to a second place finish in the East Division.

Quite a choice for the 'Top Canadian'. Who do you vote for, the guy that moons the paying customers or the guy that punches people in the jewels? Makes a guy right proud to be a Canadian. Eh?
