Fantuz Makes MNF

Andy Fantuz played for the Chicago Bears in their Monday Night Football game against the New York Giants. He saw very limited action, but he did make a catch just before the two minute warning in what was mop-up time for both teams.

When Fantuz doesn't get on the field until the final few moments of a one-sided game, it begs the question as to why are the Bears keeping him around. It seems as if they have no desire to keep him, so why not set him free where he can try his luck elsewhere. Andy's dreams of playing in the NFL have been nightmarish if you ask me. He can say he's made a catch in an NFL game, but its obvious the team has no plans for him and as the pre-season drags on, it means the regulars will see more and more time. I hope I'm wrong and that Andy does get a chance to showcase his talent in a game during a time when it means something, but I somehow think that the above pic is the only NFL catch Andy will make.

The Bears are deep in receivers and Andy's days are numbered. I would hate to see a talent such as his left to sit on a practice roster anywhere. Time for Andy to come home and work with Durant to get us back to the Grey Cup.

August 30 is the day NFL teams have to get from 90 to 80 players and assuming he his among the first 10 cut then he has a 10 day window to catch on with a different NFL team. If no one picks him up then he can return here, realistically his first game could be Sept 17 against Toronto.
