A Flair For The Dramatic

Derek Jeter became the 28th person in major league history to have 3-thousand career hits this afternoon. Here it is...

I'm not a Yankees fan, but I've always been a Jeter fan. He plays the game the way it should be and he doesn't have that diva approach that a lot of players do. He is one of my faves and I'm glad I got to see him hit 3000 this afternoon.

I'm happy for the guy too. There are lots of jerks in baseball, but Jeter isn't one of them.

That said, I wouldn't have given him the ball back like the the guy in the stands did, and here's why...

Jeter is a multi millionare athlete who will never have a financial worry for the rest of his life after baseball. If he really wants the ball for his trophy case, he can have it for the price the market dictates. That ball legally belongs to whoever catches it. If it was me, I would be thinking about how this new posession could provide that resources to put my children through college, or provide for a retirement nest egg. Alot of people will line up to pat this guy on the back for handing over $250,000 plus to a millionare athlete in exchange for some tickets and trinkets. I think he's a sucker. Jeter could pay for that ball if he wants it bad enough, if not, EBAY.
