Did Everyone Take Friday Off?

I know a long weekend is upon us. I know the kids had the day off from school. I know government workers probably had an EDO, but did everyone? It was much busier on the streets of Regina than what it normally is---and much busier in the stores as well.
----
I did something I may regret on Friday. I finally broke down and bought a PS3 along with Madden and NHL11. (LOVE THEM BOTH) I was considering buying it from an electronics store near the Home Depot, however it would seem as if the gameplan hasn't changed from the last time I was there to check on something about six weeks ago. That being if you come into our store, don't expect us to come help you because we aren't. We are too busy in our own meagre little world to help you or any of the other customers that were in the store trying to wreck our day by actually making us do something. Too bad, because you lost a $500 sale and you've probably seen the last of my mug in your establishment. There is such a thing as customer service and such a thing as customer ignorance and this place definitely fits in the category of the latter.

I've only played one game of NHL 11, but its pretty realistic. I played the Pats and I took on Medicine Hat. I got beat 4-0, Eberle hit the post, I got outshot 33-11 and at the end of the game, the announcers said "The Pats just looked like they would like to be elsewhere tonight and it showed." That pretty much sums up last year doesn't it.
-----
When it comes to this year's Pats, they are showing they are very good at gassing leads. They blew one to Red Deer on Wednesday and when I turned away from the game on Access to watch some of the Atlanta-San Fran baseball game, they were up 2-0 and things were looking good. They ended up losing 6-4. After the game, they shipped Hampus Gustaffson off to Brandon for a pick in the bantam draft. They then acquired Juraz Rosnik from Swift Current for that pick. GM Chad Lang says its a chance to let the younger players play and develop.

Did you catch the story on Cody Carlson's reaction to the trade to Prince George in Friday's LP. He said he was cool with the trade and he that he was looking forward to getting some coaching. Is that one last parting shot at Curtis Hunt? Is that perhaps the real reason why Carlson was sent away.
----
I get the feeling that the Rider defence will be making lemonade all afternoon as they will be putting the squeeze on Toronto QB Cleo Lemon. He gives the Argos a better chance to win than last week when the Toronto coaching staff didn;t really allow Dalton Bell to do anything, but I still can't see this team coming close to beating the Riders. I say its the green guys by 14 or more.
-----
I wouldn't want to be the person doing the SJHL power rankings (oh wait a minute). It was thought at the start of the year that there wasn't much separating top from bottom and its proving to be that way. Any team can beat any other team on any given night and that my friends is a good thing. It should have people in the 12 SJHL locales excited on game night and showing up at the rink. Its only going to get better methinks.
-----
Is it really true that a vaunted member of the Regina media missed Jordan Eberle's first ever NHL goal because he was watching "The Apprentice"? That my friends is truly. truly shameful. It makes me wonder if there is just one TV in this individual's home because how you couldn't go to the 2nd TV when losing the privileges of the first one is beyond me.
-----
A lot of debate on the Steve McIntyre knockout of Raitis Ivanans late in the 3rd period of the Oilers opening night win over Calgary. TSN's Bob McKenzie asks what was the purpose and significance of the bout. The TV replays clearly show the two men jawing at one another so it wasn't as if one guy jumped the other---both knew exactly what they were getting into. Both players are the so-called "pugilists" on the team so its not like McIntyre or Ivanans was going after one of the top players on the ice. The two spoke about going and they did with a bad result happening. I don''t have a problem with that. There was nothing wrong with that fight. Brent Sutter didn't make an issue of it when it was over so MacKenzie shouldn't now.
------
It took a while for the Brett Favre showing his "junk" to Jenn Sterger story to finally hit the mainstream media. That story has been going around for a long time. Say what you will about Brett, but he wouldn't do that would he?

I LOVE THE BASEBALL PLAYOFFS!!! There's been a lot of drama and we are just two days in. How about Rick Ankiel's shot in extra innings against the Giants. Has that baby come down yet? A prodigious swat indeed.
-----
How and why is Kyle Farnsworth pitching for a team in the baseball playoffs. The guy is a walking disaster!
----
Anyone who uses the phrase "easy as taking candy from a baby" has obviously never actually tried taking candy from a baby. No I haven't tried doing that just in case you were wondering.

GO RIDERS!!!!
