Rider Kids Book Released

"In Saskatchewan, if you give a boy a football he will ALWAYS dream of being a Rider, and in this province that's ALWAYS possible."

That's the theme of a new children’s picture book by former television anchor and journalist, Holly Preston. Preston's new keepsake book for children and their families is called The ALWAYS Team. With vibrant, zany water colour illustrations by former Reginan, Val Lawton, it's a "Welcome to Rider Nation" for a pint-sized new generation of Rider fans. Complete with an authentic Gainer the Gopher signature, The ALWAYS Team is a delightful story of three Saskatchewan boys who love playing football. They set out to make their team better by learning from the Saskatchewan Roughriders during a visit to Mosaic Stadium on game day.

"In the season which led to the Riders' Grey Cup win in 2007, I was struck by the number of children attending Rider games with their families", Preston says. "I thought there should be a way to welcome all of those kids to the Rider fold. It seemed doing that with a book they could read for fun, with some quotes drawn directly from Rider players, might be a creative way to do that."

The ALWAYS Team is dedicated to “All young Rider fans who know that football helmets really do grow from watermelon seeds."

Preston currently works as a freelance writer and part-time Radio host in Calgary. The hard-cover book is now available through Saskatchewan Roughrider stores in Regina and Saskatoon and online at Riderville.com. It's published by Your Nickel's Worth Publishing in Regina and marketed by Regina's Imagine Marketing. It sells for $19.95.

A book signing by Holly Preston will take place on September 11th from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Rider Store, Northgate Mall, Regina.
