Frayed Nerves In Riderville

Riders quarterback Darian Durant is a little frustrated with the talk of some about his performance Saturday in Edmonton. I asked Durant today if he is surprised at the heat that he has been taking on the call-in shows and the fact that some are calling for Ryan Dinwiddie to start and that he has regressed. Its a question that obviously caught Durant off-guard because he seemed shocked at the question.
"If that’s the way people feel after one game, than so be it,” said a frustrated Durant. “All I know is we are 5-3 and that’s all that matters. Its one bad game, it’s not the end of the world. We have 10 games to play and I know there’s going to be some good and some bad. I’m just going out there to play football and not worry about what people have to say.”

For the record, it really does baffle me as to how people have fallen off the Durant bandwagon after the Edmonton game. As I have stated before, every quarterback has had bad games, but the good ones bounce back and Darian is known as "bounce-back". Those that know me and those that read this blog know I am a HUGE Darian Durant fan and I have been for a long time. The fact that there are some out there saying what they have makes me question their sanity. Do those of you who are off the Durant bandwagon really think this team would be better off with Ryan Dinwiddie? Really? Many of you would be bitching and moaning if Durant was lost for a couple of games because he does give the Riders the best chance to win.

As Coach Miller said today, it doesn't surprise him because Rider "fans" get a lot of exercise jumping on and off the wagon. That might be the most honest and most accurate answer Kenny has ever given. NO KIDDING!!

Miller also had a message to those who are upset with Prechae Rodriguez's seven catch effort. Miller said you never hear anyone complaining when Weston Dressler catches 11 and he's right. Where's everyone when Dressler catches 11 or Fantuz catches eight or whatever. Its obvious Prechae Rodriguez has become a whipping boy for the fan base, but Miller threw right back in everyone's face by saying you can't have it both ways. He's absolutely right!!

Hey Mitch, what is with the bs questions? You told Durant that everyone is down on him which couldn't be further from the truth. Just because a couple yahoos on Riderfans.com say something stupid doesn't mean it reflects entirely on all Rider fans. Think next time before you ask a stupid question because the way you responded to him asking you who said this was brutal. Shame....

Good on Miller on questioning all these boneheads who hate Rodriguez about where the hate is when Dressler catches a lot of passes. Some Rider fans are an embarassment including those who call for Durant to be replaced.

Leave it to Mitchell Blair to make things up and make Rider fans look bad, he should offer Durant an apology for misleading him with those comments about 'everyone' being down on him which is hardly the case. And just because one clown on Riderfans.com says he wants Dinwiddie doesn't mean everyone does, Blair should be ashamed of himself. Its no wonder Durant sounded pissed off, and rightfully so, if Blair has any cans whatsoever he will inform Durant tommorrow of how he mispoke.

Just another example of the Regina media looking completely incompetent.

Hey Travis, if you can put it on two blogs, so can I. Whats the matter bigboy? Are you one of the mutants on Riderfans.com that's pissed off because you've been outed again. Your little fan board was rife with comments about Durant after Saturday's game and the phone in show was sickening after the game. Many Rider fans were ticked off at Darian and the question was asked. Take your self-righteous I demand an apology stance and look in the mirror because you are probably one of the biggest detractors DD has.

I laugh at how people are irate over Durant's performance and then cool off 24-48 hours later yet they bristle when their comments come back to get them.

Darian could care less if the fans are with him or against him. The only thing he cares about is what his teammates think and his teammates aren't selling him out----unlike some "fans". Don't let these knuckledraggers get to you Mitch.

As a former poster at RF.com, I got tired of being associated with the constant stream of negativity and the Debbie Downer attitude. They can sit there and huff and puff right after a loss and then when words come back to haunt them, they attack. The chief goofball is your good friend Mr. Tomprowski (sp) aka Big Sexy Dawg. I've seen that clown in the Press Box and clown is being complimentary.
They think they reprsent the Rider Nation and they don't. Smart Rider fans know you can't pin that one on Darian, but the entire offence.

I would like all the Rodriguez haters to answer Kenny's question about how they don't bitch when Dressler catches a ton of balls, but they do when Rodriguez does.

I'm not a "Rodriguez hater", but I think the criticism thrown his way comes down to his general lack of effort. I blame one of DD's picks on Rodriguez's laziness, albiet it was a bit behind him. Next time you're in the stands, watch Prechae run a route, or 2, or 3. If he ain't gettin' the ball, it ain't worth the run. On the other hand, he's a BIG step up on Gerran Walker.

When the ball is thrown to Prechae's side, please look at the effort the receivers on the other side are giving. When the Bombers are on the field, please look at their receivers and what they do when the ball is thrown to the other side. They know their involvement in the play is over unless said receiver is coming across the field. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Rodriguez and Miller told everyone to basically shut up when it comes to that criticism.

Like I just said on Roddie's blog, you have successfully done it. You took the heat from Saturday's loss and took it off of them and put it on yourself. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. I guess that is why the team has you on the payroll. Atta boy Scruffy!!!

It's not a vocal minority, it's a large majority. Listen to the call in shows and read what goes online. I would say 90% after that loss, jumped off the wagon. It's just typical hysteria. However this team realizes after that they better just be in this for themselves.

Great blog Mitch! Awesome that you had the guts to stand up and ask the tough questions. Never back down. You're the man

After that game in Edmonton, Durant deserved all the criticism he got. 3 quarters and not even in position to kick a field goal??!!
