ESPANA!!

I picked Spain at the start of the World Cup and Espana it is! It wasn’t a great display of “the beautiful game”. In fact, it was downright ugly with more yellow cards being shown than what former Stampede Wrestling ref Jurgen Himmler would give to Karachi Vice. I digress!
Just some thoughts on the World Cup final

--It looked like Spain was playing a bunch of highway workers
--Twitter followers of a certain young woman in Holland are VERY disappointed
--Did Regina’s Spanish community run amok in the streets?
--Does Regina have a Spanish community?
--Sportchek ran ads saying you could find something to support all countries at the World Cup. No Regina Sportchek had Ivory Coast or Switzerland memorabilia when I was in there throughout the tournament. This, ladies and gentlemen, consists of false advertising. HARUMPH!
--Jordan Eberle would have scored if he had been playing
--It is extremely cool the way the two teams come out for games walking out side-by-side. You would NEVER see that at the Stanley Cup final or the Super Bowl or Grey Cup. Can you imagine the trash-talk in the tunnel?
--I would love to see BBC commentator John Helm call some American or Canadian football. Can I call him Europe’s Vin Scully. His vocabulary is second to none.
--Gus Johnson needs to call soccer. Think about that for one moment
--Has the vuvuzuela’s 15 minutes of fame come to an end?
--How much fun would it be to attend the 2014 event in Brazil? Could Canada be there? Only in X-Box or Playstation games. Speaking of which, I wonder if I could get Canada to the 2010 title. I did that back in 98. Paul Peschosilido was magnificent!

I got to give CTV’s Chris Hodges credit for his facebook status. The sarcastic Hodgey had this up Sunday afternoon….
Paul the Octopus goes 8-for-8 in the WC tournament. Experts say 'it's an impressive display" and that "he tasted damn good sauteed with lemon and garlic"

Did anyone go to Vanilla Ice at Summer Invasion? If so, why? Then again, I ask this to people who jammed into Buffalo Days last year to see MC Hammer. So I have to ask, how is Ice looking. Did Global’s Derek Meyers get on stage to perform with him. Sources close to this blogger have told me Meyers was a huge Vanilla Ice fan in his day.

If Gord Miller was doing play by play for the Montreal-Edmonton game, why wasn’t Pierre McGuire the sideline reporter?
----
An Edmonton friend of mine told me after the Eskimo its tough playing with 12 guys on the field and that we should try it sometimes. What isn’t tough is knowing how to catch the football which is something the Eskimo receivers seemingly couldn’t do Sunday night. I’d be some kind of pissed if I was Richie Hall as Edmonton really should have won that game.

Rumours have it Tigers coach Willie Desjardins is on his way to the NHL to join the Dallas Stars. If its true, congrats to Willie. He’ll be hard to replace in the Hat. Rumours also have it Landon Ferraro (Ray’s son) won’t be headed back to Red Deer this season because of problems with coach Jesse Wallin. Chad Lang worked trades with Red Deer when he was in Moose Jaw, could he work one with the Rebels now that he is in Regina?

Mark October 23 on your calendar. After the Riders play the Eskimos at Commonwealth, it will be UFC 121 which will be highlighted by Brock Lesnar versus Cain Velazquez. Speaking of Lesnar, wouldn’t you love to see him come out and just absolutely annihilate that Old Spice guy or “The 4 guys”.

When you aim for perfection, you discover it's a moving target.

Don;t even suggest Landon Ferraro to the Pats. What on earth could Chad Lang provide to Red Deer that would give us someone of his calibre? NOTHING!
Pat fans have to realize this year is going to be a very bad year and just suck it up. Carter Ashton, Jordan Weal and ??????????????? equals about 20 wins.

If Stamps catches that pass, its game over! Why is Montreal playing three straight in WC cities over the first three weeks. Mr. Schedule Maker didn't do the Als any favours.
