Anyone Want A Re-Do?

I know it was only Game 1 of the season. I know its a marathon and not a sprint. However, I raised my eyebrows when the so-called experts started taking Edmonton to win the West, and now I'm left to wonder if those who did so might want to change their tune a little. If the Week 1 opener between the Riders and Alouettes was the game of the year, the Lions-Eskimos tilt was just plain ugly with BC winning it. The Lions didn't look great, but the Eskimos were HORRIBLE!
Ricky Ray's performance did nothing to show me that my prediction of him being close to the top of the hill was wrong.
With the Alouettes playing Edmonton next week and the Riders playing BC, both of Sunday's combatants are going to have to be much, much better next week or face the prospect of getting smoked.

You know its bad when controversy rears its ugly head at the annual July 4th hot-dog eating contest. Joey Chestnut won by inhaling 54 dogs in 10 minutes which was down from his 2009 winning total of 68. The controversy started when Chestnut's main competitor--Takeru Kobayashi crashed the stage. The 32-year-old Kobayashi did not eat this year because he refused to sign a contract with Major League Eating -- the fast food equivalent of the NFL. On his Japanese-language blog, he said he wanted to be free to compete in contests sanctioned by other groups.
What? There is now some eating union? Its like WWE vs TNA? Its like UFC vs Strikeforce? There is more to the hot dog eating championship than two guys going out and doing something extremely nauseating in front of many live and god knows how many watching on TV! Why do I smell a Will Ferrell movie in the making?

Did you see the huge crash at the Tour de France? It was caused by a dog! Many riders go down because of man's best friend. Its great video!

Have the Pats officially given the play-by-play job to Dan Plaster yet?

What has happened to Danny Barrett? I was told at the Rider game he had re-surfaced at Bethune Cookman University, but there is no sign of him on their website. Is he out of football completely right now?

Thank goodness for the mosquito-eating dragonfly. They are certainly big and fat this year, but that's OK.

I'm guessing not many Jays fans thought Jose Bautista and John Buck would be going to the all-star game.

I watched the Cubs game against Cincinnati today. The Reds clubbed out 7 homers in a 14-3 win. Pathetic! Purely pathetic! Like the Oilers, its time for a complete rebuild at Wrigley. Its time for ex-Cub Ryne Sandberg (greatest 2nd baseman ever) to take the managerial reins. He's been working his way up the organization. Its time to take over.

The Swift Current Indians reminded the Regina Red Sox just who the best team in the WMBL is this season. The Indians came into Regina and silenced the Resox 10-zip. A chance to get back in the win column comes tomorrow when Moose Jaw visits.

Kyle Drabek, the pitcher Toronto wanted from Philly in the Halladay deal, tossed a no hitter in double A ball on Sunday. How much longer until he gets promoted to the bigs?
----
How much longer is Fleet Street going to be closed?

Why would any team want to pay huge money for Ilya Kovalchuk?

Do you ever dream about having insomnia?

Are you the new host of the Rider pre and post game shows? If so, good luck dealing with the angry drunks after the game!

Does anyone really care what Danny Barrett is doing today. As long as he is not doing anything connected to the Riders, I'm OK with it.
