Was That Dan Cloutier?

Remember Dan Cloutier? The Canucks goalie whiffed on a Nick Lidstrom shot from center ice in the playoffs a few years ago completely changing the momentum of that playoff series. Those that made the parodies of the NHL playoff ads should have had that one in because the Wings likely don't win the Cup.
I bring up Dan Cloutier's name because England goalkeeper Robert Green did a pretty good Cloutier imitation at the World Cup on Saturday. In a game that was somewhat comical because of England's dominance, the United States somehow managed to earn a tie because Green let a harmless shot by an American get through his hands and across the line. It has the British media in a rather foul mood with many calling for Green to have a spot on the bench for the rest of the tournament. It was a colossal OOPS!

It was the end of an era in Vancouver. Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell got KO'ed by Rich Franklin in the main event of UFC 115 in a match that was likely his last. How tough is Franklin? He broke his arm in the first round and when asked if he was considering quitting, he said "Its just a broken arm and these people came here to see a fight."

Its the Riders and the Lions today as the CFL pre-season gets underway. Yeah, its only pre-season and some of the guys you cheer for are guys you will never cheer for again, but Rider game-day is always something special. Of course for this cowboy, it means another year of climbing the ramps to get to the press box. GOD I HATE THAT!! Coach Miller saying yesterday not a lot of veterans will play as he wants to evaluate his rookies. Good plan! Does the result of a pre-season game matter to you? Remember last year, the Riders went 0-2 in games that don't count. As long as its not a one-sided football game, I don't put a lot of stock into the pre-season. The key is making sure none of the key guys get hurt.

Adam Burish says he hates Chris Pronger and would like to punch him the next time they play against one another. Pronger has said he isn't going to the minors anytime soon. Burish is a free agent. Wouldn't it be ironic if Burish ended up a Flyer. AWK-WARD!

Its starting to look as if the Cubs will once again not be a playoff contender come July 1. I look at the talent they have compared to the Jays and wonder how the hell Toronto can be so much better. Brutal!

Have a good Sunday. Maybe I'll see you at the Rider game.

poor scruffy has to drag his ass up the ramp to sit in the press box for every rider home game....we feel so sorry for you....

Pronger would probably veto the signing of Burrish, if it was a possibility...or demand a trade out...after Pronger punched Burrish's lights out.

I hate the ramps. Its why I changed the location of my season tickets from 204 to 24 about 5 yrs ago. Why they didn't put elevators to get people up and down from there is beyond me. I won't have to worry about that in the new stadium though.

As a Canucks fan, you have started my day off on the wrong note!

Pre-season football. Who cares? Just get me to July 1 and the opener. I'm off to the lake!

Guess Mr. Anonymous at the top of the list doesn't realize you're an asthmatic. Oh well, we all recognize how cowardly he is. He's probably back at the drive-thru or playing Rockband by himself again.
