Commonwealth Stadium will be full when the Riders right last year's wrong and win it all....
EDMONTON -- Tickets for the 98th Grey Cup game on November 28, 2010 in Edmonton are sold-out just one week after tickets went on sale to the public June 1, 2010.
Edmonton has set a record for the fastest sellout of Grey Cup tickets and the earliest sellout at 173 days or 5 ½ months from the game.
Rick LeLacheur, Co-Chair of the 2010 Grey Cup Festival Committee announced, “The 2010 Grey Cup is sold-out! The response by Edmonton Eskimo season ticket holders and CFL fans across Canada and the United States has been fantastic. We would like to thank our season ticket holders and CFL fans who bought tickets to the game on November 28th. We are very pleased that we will have a packed stadium on November 28th.”
“A sold-out stadium and a Hot to Huddle Festival in downtown Edmonton will be an excellent opportunity for Edmonton and the Capital Region to showcase itself to Canada and the United States. While the tickets to the Grey Cup Game itself are sold-out, the Festival Committee will focus their energies on putting together lots of activities that Edmontonians, Albertans and visitors to our region can enjoy during the days leading up to the game.” Said Doug Goss, Co -Chair of the 2010 Grey Cup Festival Committee
Duane Vienneau, Executive Director of the 2010 Grey Cup Festival Committee said, “We are putting together a tailgate party at Commonwealth stadium where you can party before the game and if you don’t have game tickets you can watch the game on big screens! The sell-out allows us to focus on the tailgate party and many other activities that we are planning for the Hot to Huddle Festival November 25 – 28, 2010.”
Is it safe to say that for one weekend, Edmonton will not be green and gold, but green and white!
How great was it to see Weston Dressler back on the field practicing yesterday. From head coach Ken Miller saying Dressler was a couple of weeks away last November at the Grey Cup to Dressler perhaps not being ready for the season opener was something that made Rider fans cringe. The diminutive Dressler has struck a chord within the heart of the Rider Nation, and it would be tragic to see his career put on hold because of the broken leg and sprained ankle he suffered last year. Here's hoping Dressler is feeling 100 percent and that he is ready to make a major contribution in 10.
Is the Todd Reesing hype about to end? Word has it the University of Kansas quarterback who had a stellar college career will be the odd man out when the Riders let one of their five quarterbacks go. He has had a tough go of it and his arm just isn't up to where it should be for the Canadian game. I thought Kent Smith would be the guy to go, but it could be Reesing.
At least the rain yesterday didn't spoil the weekend. What the rain yesterday did do was make my grass grow even more. Due to severe allergies, I can't mow the lawn so Mrs. Mitch does that, but she can't right now because our lawn mower is dead. It means our grass is a little high at this time.
A correction to one of the anonymous knuckledraggers who tries to stir it up on Rod Pedersen's blog. Mr. Anonymous said I didn't have the stones to tell Roy Shivers what I thought of him back in the day after I went on that now apparently famous rant about him quitting. Mr. Anonymous said Shivers was on our program shortly after that rant and that I was cordial to him. If Mr. Anonymous wants to take a potshot at me, that's fine. However, Mr. Anonymous should also know that Roy Shivers never appeared live on the Drew Remenda Sports Show when I was a part of that program. Mr. Shivers would rather have spoken to John Gormley than Drew and I. Several times he was asked to come on and several times he refused.
I would be shocked if Peter Laviolette starts Brian Boucher for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final.
Lemme get this straight. Tiger Woods hit three spectators in the final round of the Memorial on Sunday or he hit on three spectators. I didn't see the final round of the Memorial so I don't know.
The Pro Football Weekly NFL preview is on store shelves. What great reading that magazine is. I always get that mag and Lindy's when it comes to the NFL preview mags. I only wish someone would do a CFL preview mag. What a huge seller that would be in the Prairies.
Somebody should really tell Dusty Rhodes he has no right to be in a WWE ring anymore.
Did Dana White cringe over Rampage Jackson being on RAW last night and what the hell were the NXT rookies doing at the end. I didn't see that one coming.
A note to many Regina drivers. I have asked the fine people at Capital Ford Lincoln if all of their cars are equipped with turn signals and they say yes. Perhaps those of you who don't have turn signals in their vehicle should head over there and get a new car. I got behind an idiot in a white truck this afternoon who was an accident waiting to happen.
Stanley Cup ratings in the US have been great, but this is still embarassing. Word is the national spelling bee had better ratings than Game 4 of the series. That is so atrocious on so many levels. Atrocious a-t-r-o-c-i-o-u-s. Atrocious!
