Goodbye Jordan And Best Of Luck

Regina Pats GM Brent Parker and Jordan Eberle share a moment outside the Pats dressing room shortly after Eberle played his last home game as a member of the WHL club. It was a game he might rather forget. Despite getting his 49th of the season, the Pats were simply outclassed on this night by a Brandon Wheat King team that is more than ready to be the host team at the Memorial Cup. The final score, Brandon 9 Regina 3. OUCH!
If you watched it on Access or were one of the 6450 in attendance, you know it was over early. Brayden Schenn's goal just 246 in was followed by three others in the first 11 minutes as the Wheat Kings clinched 2nd in the East and a likely first round date with Swift Current. It was not a pretty sigh unless you were a Wheat Kings fan.

In a classy move at the end, the Pats not only saluted the fans, but they came out and handed autographed sticks to many of them. Jordan Eberle then pulled Colton Teubert back on the ice as the two gave the fans one last salute and got one back. The team will finish what has been a highly disappointing season in Brandon tomorrow night. For Eberle, it will be onto Springfield and the Oilers AHL affiliate, Teubert doesn't know where the Kings are going to assign him while for Brett Leffler, Mitch McColm and Matt Strueby its question marks all around as to who they play their next game for.
------
The U of R Cougar womens basketball team at least had some positive news for the Regina sports scene on Friday. They shook off a poor start to come back and beat Laval 69-54. Joanna Zalesiak (Regina's 2nd most famous person of Polish descent behind Pete Paczko) led the Cougar scoring attack with 23. It sets up a semi-final game against Simon Fraser today in a rematch of last year's national final. If the Cougars win, it could be an all-Saskatchewan Canadian final as the Huskies won their first game and will play Windsor in the other semi-final. How cool would an all-Sask final be!
------
How mad will Rider fans be if the season is delayed because of labour unrest. I don't want to think about it. If it was a prolonged lockout, I'm thinking the Rams and Thunder might play to sell out crowds as many would need their football fix. Bring in replacement players I say. OK, maybe not!

As you go into the weekend, I say this

What you seize is what you get.

Anyone see Recchi's comments when he blasts the NHL for not suspending Cooke on his hit towards Savard? Guaranteed Sherriff Colin Campbell won't fine him, UNLESS he wants to be the laughingstock of sports. If Pittsburgh was smart, they'd forfeit their next game vs Boston because one of their stars could be carted off on a stretcher, and who could blame the Bruins? Bertuzzi-Moore Part Deux

Sad, Sad, Sad. A full building and the Pats crap the bed. I don't know if Brandon gets that many had Ketlo not gotten hurt, but the way the defence played, they might have.

I heard you and Kelly talk about the roster for next year. Once again, sad, sad, sad. The only guys I would keep for next year are Bell, Davidson, Spooner, Weal, Ashton, Gustavson, Mitchell, Rieder and the two goalies. The rest (Favreau, Mulder, Carlson, etc, etc) can pack their bags and not look back.

This was the first year in 12 I didn't buy season tickets, but I still went to over half of the games and would have been at last night's game if it wasn't for other things. I don't see any immediate future for this team and the exploits of Weal won't be enough to bring me back.

What is Parker saying to Eberle. Probably something like, I made you boy, I am Brent Parker, without me you would be playing in some beer league. Remember I am the greatest hockey man ever.

Mitch,

Loved you on CJME but last night's broadcast with you and Kelly was terrible. What was up with that? That was not broadcasting it was like two grown men sitting in the stands spouting off while sipping on some beers. Hate to say it Mitch, but, next time I will be muting the tv and turning into Pedersen.

Sorry for the honesty Mitch, I'm glad Access is covering the games but it is still a far cry from Shaw's level of quality.

Hey Mitch, what do you know about the future of the pats 20's? Especially Brett Leffler? Do you have any idea of there has been interest?

Hey Al. Congrats to you for sitting through that whole mess. I quit watching when it hit 5-1. Shaw has all the fancy bells and whistles, but I find the Access quality to be just as good. Remember Al, that all the camera people are volunteeers and not paid employees. The problem I have with games is the endless chatter by Kelly. The game started last night and I think went on for at least a minute and a half before play by play started. I was starting to think you had dropped the headphones and were munching on some corn or something. Doesn't he realize that when the game is on that he should keep it quiet? I think you guys make a good combo, but that does bother me.

Brent: Are you sure you don't want to come back as a 20 year old?

Jordan: Are you going to be here?

Brent: Yeah!

Jordan: Bye!

Brent: SIGHHHH!!!

Hey Mitch:
I find it funny that you are getting slammed on Pedersen's blog by JC, yet you use one of his photos for this posting. That is a JC-foto is it not? Its blurry, its out of focus, its not framed right. Why don't you use a Greg Johnson or Guy Dauphnais photo. Is this your way of saying you broadcast as good a hockey game as he does when it comes to taking a picture. Just wondering!
