Thats More Like It

It might have been the best performance of the year by the Regina Pats. The highly talented Brandon Wheat Kings came into the Brandt Centre and were dispatched by the home side by a score of 4-2.
The Pats came out with urgency, they came out with some fire, they received some great goaltending from Damien Ketlo and they got an outstanding contest from the line of Jordan Eberle, Jordan Weal and Carter Ashton. Weal had a pair in the victory. Make no doubt about it, this team still has a long ways to go before they can even think about being a playoff team, but last night was a great start. If anything, it shows this team that they can beat one of the elite in the WHL if they want to. The Wheat Kings came to play, but on this night, the Pats were the better team. Edmonton will be here on Friday with Swift Current coming to town Saturday. There is no reason why the Pats shouldn't be able to take two points away from both of those games.

The PGA's Sony Open begins in Hawaii today at the picturesque Waialae course. One of those taking part in this event is Weyburn's Graham DeLaet. He will tee it off at 1 o'clock Honolulu time with a couple of guys I've never heard of. The Open will be on the Golf Network, but chances of seeing DeLaet doing his thing are probably slim and none unless he is a story on Day 1. Here's a story on DeLaet and fellow Canadian Chris Baryla who is also competing....

CFL commish Marc Cohon says the league will not punish former Riders GM Eric Tillman after his guilty plea earlier this month on a charge of sexually assaulting his teenage babysitter. Cohon saying Wednesday "Anything that happens on the field and in the realm of football, I'm going to make some strong decisions on that — and I've been prepared to do that in the past. These are things that happened outside of football and Eric is paying the price for that with his reputation."

This Conan O'Brien-Jay Leno story is really getting too much attention as far as I'm concerned. A major earthquake has devastated Haiti leaving thousands dead, yet Americans are worried over what will happen to Leno, O'Brien and "The Tonight Show". Jay left "The Tonight Show" to do what he thought was something that would be embraced. He failed! Why should O'Brien be the guy that takes the fall? I don't watch either of them, I'm a Letterman guy. I always have been and I always will. I find Dave to be much funnier than both of the other guys and the gap is a wide one---wider than Dave's front teeth that's for sure.

I spoke about the earthquake in Haiti. Pictures from the ravaged country show what type of extreme damage has been done. Its not going to get better any time soon. You can't help but feel for the people of that country who have lost so much. Aid efforts are underway and if you can spare any $$$, please do make a donation to the Red Cross, the Salvation Army or someone. Its at times like this when we should all realize how lucky we are. One third of people in the country are in need of immediate assistance. Haiti didn't have it easy before and they certainly don't now. If you can help, I urge you to do so.

"The Score" needs more Renee Paquette!

I spoke in an earlier post about the Oilers perhaps wanting to pursue former Pat Josh Harding. Talking to friends in Edmonton, they tell me there is talk around Oilerville that they might be close to landing Habs goalie Jaroslav Halak. It might cost them Andrew Cogliano and maybe Gilbert Brule. Who's kidding who, those two are expendable once a certain Mr. Eberle shows up at Rexall!

If you're a Cowboys fan, or even if you're not, you might want to mark April 11 on your calendar. On that day, Texas Stadium--the old home of the Cowboys--will be imploded.

A light plane is forced to land on Highway 1 after experiencing some problems. I bet that makes the people in Harbour Landing feel safe. I'm really not sure about that part of Regina and certainly hope that no disaster involving a plane ever happens there, but with the airport so close, I wouldn't be surprised if some day something tragic happens.

As you begin your Thursday, I ask you this. Why do we say something that isn't working is "out of whack". What's a whack!

Gotta wonder how gullible people are that they would even want to be part of this Axe commercial? Almost as bad as the people interviewed on the Pizza Hut Wing street wings commercial.

I like this McColm. He put Schenn on his ass early in the first period and it seemed to change the game around. Ketlo was also great in his return. He'll need more efforts like that if they are to get into the playoffs.

One win does not turn a season around. Lets get a grip here.
