The King of Yap Responds

As the hours tick down to Sunday's Western final, the excitement just continues to grow. Riders Head Coach Ken Miller saying Wednesday that after having a bye week, his team is more than ready to play.

Meanwhile, Calgary receiver Nik Lewis is responding to comments made by Rey Williams and Chris Getzlaf about the celebrations the Stampeders receivers seemingly have to give themselves when making a catch. Here's what Lewis is saying....

This only makes me want to see Lance Frazier repeat this on Sunday...

You have seen the story about the Regina Hotels Association contributing 10 million over 15 years towards construction of a new stadium. Its too bad that someone hadn't seen the For Sale sign at the Pontiac Silverdome. The old home of the Detroit Lions has been sold. A Canadian company has bought the 80-thousand seat stadium for get this---------854 thousand dollars! Pack that thing on a moving van and bring it here. Think of the savings. OK, I'm obviously being a little faceitious. But really, 854 thousand dollars for an 80-thousand seat dome. It was built for 55 million back in 1975. The plan is to have the stadium be home to a Major League Soccer team.

Do you have Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew on your fantasy team? If you do, did his move this past Sunday cost you your game. MJD had an easy touchdown late in the game versus the New York Jets but elected to down himself at the one yard line to basically kill the clock for a game winning field goal. He's taking a lot of heat for the move because his Jaguars were behind at the time and there was no guarantee the winning field goal would be good, and for the fact he cost many a fantasy footballer his weekly game. Guess what? Jones-Drew says he lost his game because of the move by five points. ESPN says around 10-thousand players lost their game this week because of Jones-Drew's action as well. The bottom line here---it doesn't matter what happened to you, its whether or not Jacksonville got the win. It just shows that some people take fantasy football a little too seriously. This coming from someone who was not affected by said actions. If you want to get mad, get mad for leaving Tom Brady on the bench when he throws for 380 yards and six touchdowns in the snow while Eli Manning soils the linen in New Orleans. :)

Did you catch the ESPN documentary on the trade of Wayne Gretzky to the Kings that aired on TSN last night. Great television. The entire 30 for 30 series has been outstanding so far, but this one was far and away the best.

Looks like Montreal is going to be the host venue for the Machida-Rua rematch. Word is the two will meet in May in a UFC pay-per-view. The two fought for Machida's light-heavyweight belt at UFC 104 and it ended with many thinking Rua had won the fight even though the judges said no. Get GSP on that card and it will be a must-see event. On another note, if MMA is still huge by the time the new stadium is built, could we get the UFC in Regina? How many people could you jam into the Brandt Centre for an event? Yeah I know---wishful thinking!

If you are a soccer fan, check out how France gets into the World Cup. I thought the refereeing at Super Bowl 40 was the biggest travesty in the history of sports----until yesterday. WOW!!! The Irish must be livid. If that had happened to England, we might have had World War 3 and my favourite redhead Sarah Mills might have started it.

Have Regina grocery stores run out of watermelons yet?

No watermelons are still available. They are more expensive but Supoerstore still has a small selection.

I'm one of those 10-thousand affected by MJD's TD but in a good way. I won my game by 4 and the other guy had him.

As for Nik Lewis, he can celebrate all he wants in the 2nd half when the Riders are up by 20.

The referees in that soccer game should both be banned for life. Give credit to Henry for saying he did touch the ball. What an injustice! If that had been England, hooliganism would have been the end result. The Irish have every reason to be pissed off. Lets hope nothing like that happens here Sundy.
