Bad News For Riders

Saskatchewan Roughrider head coach Ken Miller confirmed today non-import Wayne Smith ruptured his left Achilles tendon and is expected to miss the entire 2009 season.

Smith suffered the injury on Thursday afternoon while working out with a private trainer. Dr. Jim Fraser will operate on Smith this evening and everyone is very hopeful for a full recovery.

“Our hearts go out to Wayne after suffering such a tough injury,” stated Miller. “Wayne is a consummate pro and is a leader in our locker room. While it will be tough for Wayne and the entire team to lose him on the field in 2009, we look forward to having his positive attitude and influence in the locker room throughout the year.”
